3.6 Be sure to check and wear safety equipment (protective clothing, insulated gloves, goggles, safety helmets), no metal objects on the body, to ensure personal life and health safety.
The negative terminal is usually marked with a minus sign (-) and covered with a black cap. Be sure to disconnect the negative terminal first to prevent a short circuit. Use a wrench to loosen the nut or bolt securing the negative terminal, then lift the cable terminal upward, or use a cable clamp to secure the negative terminal to the engine compartment.
The positive terminal is usually marked with a plus sign (+) and covered with a red cap. Use a wrench to loosen the nut or bolt holding the positive terminal, then remove the cable terminals, isolate the positive cable with an insulating material such as a towel or cloth, and secure it to the engine compartment with cable clamps.
Locate the battery retainer fixing and use a wrench to remove or loosen the fixing.
Remove the battery carefully, making sure that the battery is balanced when it is removed from the vehicle to prevent electrolyte leakage, as there is a risk of electrolyte leakage with conventional lead-acid batteries and not with lithium batteries. Then check the weight of the battery and place the battery in a flat, dry and warm place.
When replacing a new battery, it is best to clean the battery terminals, which can slow down the rate of terminal corrosion and increase the service life of the battery. Generally use baking soda and water, then wipe with cleaning tools, and finally spray anti-corrosion spray or gel on the terminals, which can slow down the corrosion time to the maximum extent.
Put the new battery into the tray, the positive terminal of the battery is close to the positive terminal and cables of the car, the negative terminal of the battery is close to the negative terminal and cables of the car, and tighten the fixings, and then apply grease on the battery terminals to play the role of anti-corrosion.
Undo the cable rolling tape fixed to the engine compartment with fixed cables and insulation for isolation, place the positive cable on the positive terminal, then tighten it with a wrench and cover the battery cover. Make sure that the positive cable and wrench do not touch other metal objects during installation.
Undo the cable roll strap that secures the cable to the engine compartment, then connect the negative cable to the negative terminal, tighten it with a wrench, and close the battery cover.
Try to move the battery, the battery should be in a stationary state.
Check that all the tools used have all been taken out from the engine compartment, and then close the hood. Start the vehicle and check that the vehicle starts properly and that the low voltage system is operational.
